The Gardens is working towards becoming an Alzheimer's Society 'Dementia Friendly' organisation and we are doing this by:

  • Holding regular Dementia Friends sessions so all the staff at the home can become a Dementia Friend
  • Opening those sessions up to relatives, carers and friends of residents to also become Dementia Friends
  • Working with an external consultant to develop and provide an activities programme within the home that supports all residents including those living with dementia
  • Working to redesign parts of the homes environment to become more dementia friendly

Also, as part of the dementia awareness programme The Gardens is holding several events on the 15th June 2017 to celebrate Alzheimer's Society Cupcake Day (#CupcakeDay) which will include:

  • 10:00 Coffee morning open to all residents and families, with cupcake's homemade in resident activities
  • 14:00-15:00 'Dementia Friends' session for staff, relatives and the local community
  • 18:00-19:00 'Dementia Friends' session for relatives, families and the local community
